Vonage

CX Labs integrates Vonage with Salesforce so the customer record is already open when the call connects, and everything said on it lands back against the account.

Vonage is a cloud contact centre platform. What makes it worth pairing with a CRM is not the calling itself but what the call knows: who is ringing, which account they belong to, what happened last time, and what should therefore be on screen the moment an agent picks up.

Integrated with Salesforce, the platform routes on CRM data rather than on a separate set of phone rules. An inbound number or an IVR answer identifies the caller, the matching record opens as the call connects, and the activity — the outcome, the recording, the transcript — is written back against that record instead of sitting in a telephony system nobody else opens. The current integration, Vonage Premier for Service Cloud Voice, runs on Salesforce Partner Telephony, which puts voice inside Omni-Channel alongside chat and case work rather than in a panel beside it.

CX Labs designs that surfacing layer. The technical connection is the straightforward part; the decisions that matter are which data identifies a caller reliably, what an agent should see first, where a call should route when the match is ambiguous, and which of the many things a contact centre can capture are actually worth writing back. Get those right and average handling time falls because nobody is searching mid-conversation.

Payments are the common extension, and worth planning early. Taking card details over the phone pulls the whole contact centre into PCI DSS scope. Pairing Vonage’s IVR with a secure payment layer lets a customer key their card in themselves, so neither the agent nor the call recording ever holds the number — removing a category of manual compliance work rather than just documenting it.

One note on versions: Vonage’s older Salesforce adapter is built on Open CTI, which Salesforce has placed in maintenance mode and will retire on 28 February 2028. New work goes to Partner Telephony. If you are running the older adapter, it is a migration rather than an upgrade, and worth sequencing well ahead of the deadline.
